Manual Handling Training Course

Cost Effective Price per session for a maximum of up to 12 Candidates

 

Aim / Objectives:
To Increase awareness of safe manual handling of loads and to reduce the risk of occupational injury while carrying out manual handling tasks in the workplace. To identify the skills and techniques involved in safe lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or, moving a load. To comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, The Safety Health and Welfare at Work, (General Application) Regulations 2007.

 

Who should attend?
Any person who is involved in manual handling in the workplace.

 

Course Content
 - Introduction, Health and Safety Legislation
 - Workplace Hazards, Risks of Injury, Exposure Controls
 - Types of Injury
 - Anatomy of Spine, Structure and Functions
 - Safe Manual Handling, Eight Principles of Safe Lifting, Theory, Practice

Methodology
Theory element and practical requiring a high level of involvement from the attendee. The focus will be on existent lifting situations which are relevant to the manual handling tasks encountered by employees in the course of their work.

 

Course / Certificate Validation
Course is presented by FETAC Level 6 Instructor. Certificate of attendance will be provided for Basic Manual Handling and is valid for 3 years

 

Course Duration
Half a Day

 

Evaluation Methods
Participants will be required to undertake a practical examination.
